Krissy Gathright has 20+ years of hospitality and real estate investment experience leading teams through multiple economic cycles. As one of the first employees of the Apple REIT Companies, Krissy was instrumental in building a team with a strong corporate culture, formulating and implementing corporate strategy, driving industry-leading results and helping execute several strategic portfolio transactions including mergers, sales and a public listing. Krissy recently retired as COO of Apple Hospitality REIT (NYSE: APLE) the largest publicly-traded select service lodging REIT to focus on corporate board work, venture investment and advisory services and giving back to her community. Prior to joining Apple, Krissy served in investor relations, asset management, accounting and audit roles with Cornerstone Realty Income Trust and United Dominion Realty, both multifamily REITs, as well as EY. In March 2019, Krissy was appointed to the Apple Hospitality REIT Board of Directors where she remains as an active board member. She also serves on the Truist Advisory Board for the Greater Richmond region. Krissy has a passion for community service and a long history of active board participation. She created Apple Gives, Apple Hospitality REIT’s social responsibility platform. She is the Treasurer and Chair-Elect of the Greater Richmond YMCA Association Board. She serves as Governance Chair for the St. Christopher’s School Board of Governors and serves on the boards of the Maymont Foundation, the Community Foundation of Richmond, NextUp, StartUp Virginia and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Krissy earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. She passed the CPA exam in 1994. She resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and sons.
